Awesome Firework

Jesus! It seems ages ago, that I updated my blog the last time! Anyway, I hope you all had a glad start in the year 2008. I spent New Year´s Eve at Milsons Point in Sydney, with a guitar, picnic and a beautiful view. On the left hand side is the opera, in the middle the skyscrapers and on the right hand side the harbour bridge, you can´t get closer to the ocean.

Here are two fireworks: One at 9 pm for the kids and another big, fantastic one at 12 am. It looks like the whole city burns, awesome! Different to Germany are the people not allowed to have their own firework at home, it´s illegal. But any way it was great, fantastic and beautiful.

Christmas the Australian Way

Christmas was great as well. I spent it the “Australian Way” in a Family. On one hand it feels different, but on the other hand so great! Instead of duck and a heavy meal you will have a BBQ. We went on Christmas Eve trough the neighbourhood, had a chat with people you haven´t seen for ages and got drunk on the street. Beautiful lights are everywhere and the people collected money for the mission. It was like a party on the street.

When you wake up on Christmas Day you will find a sock with sticker “from Santa to Heidi”. Soooo cute! And you get your presents. I got a chocolate fondue, a notebook, and a GERMAN Christmas Card. The rest is pretty much like at home. Quiet, much food, but more seafood and fruits instead of heavy staff, it is just too hot outside.

The second Christmas day is the “Boxes Day”. The shops open early and the Christmas sales start. Long lines and crows of people are in the shops, too much for me. I went kite surfing. Ah, I didn´t tell before: I started to learn this sport. It´s fun, fun, fun! Now I am looking for my own stuff and took lessons. I want to get on the board! *Smile* At the Boxes day starts also the traditional sailing race in Sydney. But I haven´t been there, too many people and the wind was blowing, so kite surfing was just beautiful.

I am moving to Melbourne

At the 13th January goes my flight. I got an internship at the SBS Radio and proudly present the sport News live on Air. I jumped up and down as I heard this. It looks like I have an accommodation there, organised trough a friend. The internship goes 6 weeks and I have no idea what happens to me. Cross all fingers that I am doing a good job there. I promise I will do my best.
